Fall Foliage Foraging Hike

Explore the wild edible landscape of the Southern Appalachian Mountains during peak leaf season.  Our fall tour includes a 3-hour plant & fungi identification walk with an expert foraging guide, and a seasonal wildcrafted beverage.  Autumn brings a bounty of medicinal herbs, mushrooms, fruits, nuts, and more. ** This trip is designed to teach you the basics of botanical identification and sustainable foraging with a strong emphasis on stewardship and conservation. No plant gathering will take place during the hike.

Trip Cost: $425 for 1-4 people, $125 each additional person up to 9.  Children under 12 are free (up to 2).

Trip length: Approximately 3 hours depending on trail

Terrain: Gentle to moderate trail. Uneven at times. We can cater to all levels of mobility.

Focus:  Depending on the season, our Guide can curate your trip based on your interests such as wild food plants, medicinal herbs, mushrooms, tree identification, and more. Foraging Seasons:  Spring: Mar-May  /  Summer: June-Aug  /  Fall: Sept-Nov  /  Winter: Dec-Feb

Guide Bio: Cara-Lee Langston, M.S. is a South African-born nutritionist, herbalist, wellness cook, forager, grower, and educator.  She holds an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Georgia State University, a Certificate in Medical Herbalism from the BotanoLogos School of Herbal Studies, and a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Integrative Health from the Maryland University of Integrative Health. Cara is the founder of Wildcraft Kitchen, she is a Certified Wild Mushroom Food Safety Specialist through Mushroom Mountain and is trained in Wilderness First Aid and CPR through SOLO Southeast.
